Consider a STEM teaching career!

NSCC's STEM Pre-Teaching Experience program brings teaching opportunities to life for students considering a STEM teaching career by providing students a twelve-week supervised classroom observation experience.

Up to twelve NSCC students will be chosen to participate in classroom observations in STEM classrooms  within the Salem or Revere Public Schools. This internship is a 12-week, three-hour per-week pre-teaching observation experience that may include working with small groups of high school students.

The cohort of 12 NSCC students will be enrolled in:

  • EDU 102 Issues in Contemporary Education (3 credits)

  • ITR 200 Internship (2 credits) contextualized for education

Supervision of this internship will be provided by enrollment in NSCC’s EDU 102 and ITR 200 courses, which provides career exploration in pursuit of a career in teaching.

Students will receive a $500 stipend after successful completion of the internship.
Tuition and fees for the five credits of coursework are provided by STEM Starter Academy.
