Attend a Mandatory Information Session

Before applying, all students must attend an LPN-RN option Information Session (between August 2025 - May 2026) to learn about admission requirements, curriculum, clinical experiences, and the application process.

Location: In-Person (Danvers Campus).
Duration: Approximately 1 hour.
Attendance: Arrive on time! Late arrivals (5+ minutes) will not be admitted and must attend a future session. Attendance will be recorded.


Take ATI Exams in Maternal Newborn and Pediatric Nursing

Exam Requirements:

  • Preferred that ATI are taken at NSCC (online ATI exams not accepted)
  • Proficiency level score of 1 or higher
  • Max 2 attempts within a year (Sept 1 - Aug 31)
  • Tests from other locations require an official transcript from ATI (Order Here)

NSCC reserves the right to verify all score reports for exams taken in testing locations other than NSCC. Exams taken at other locations must adhere to proctoring requirements with a secured browser.

Complete the Application

Submit the Selective Admissions Application regardless of whether you are a new or current student.

Write & Submit Your Essay

A word-processed essay, written in the English language, must be attached for the year in which you are applying. The essay should be approximately 1-2 pages in length and must answer all questions. 

Prompt: Why you would like to advance your education and pursue a career as a registered nurse?

  • What qualities do you feel will make you a good candidate for the North Shore Community College Nurse Education Program?
  • Identify strategies you will use to ensure success in the Program.

 


Submit all previous College/University Transcripts

All official transcripts from previous colleges/universities must be sent directly to NSCC. If you’ve already submitted transcripts, you must send updated ones if you’ve completed additional coursework. You must include an official transcript with proof of graduation from a practical/vocational school approved by the State Board of Nursing.

Submit High School Transcript or GED

Upload your high school transcript or GED score report. If you submitted this within the last 5 years, confirm with SelectiveAdmissions@northshore.edu.

 


Employer Reference

Letter of recommendation completed by a nursing manager or supervisor must be submitted detailing a minimum of 6 months employment as an LPN. The recommendation must be requested through the online Admissions application portal after your application is submitted.

 


MA LPN License

Submit a copy of a valid license as an LPN from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

 


Course Requirements

To be considered for the LPN - RN program, you will need to provide details in your application on the successful completion (final grade of C or higher) of ALL of the following college level courses, which are required for admission to this program option. This information will be submitted through the online Admissions application. 

  • Anatomy and Physiology 1 (must have been completed within the past 10 years at the time of admission)
  • Anatomy and Physiology 2 (must have been completed within the past 10 years at the time of admission)
  • Composition 1*
  • Composition 2 Elective*
  • Introduction to General Psychology*
  • Human Growth and Development* (Must cover life span from birth to death)

* Indicates courses you may get credit for by passing certain examinations.  For further information please visit: northshore.edu/cas/

Submission Requirement

You must upload a document listing:

  • Each required course you have completed, including the completion date and academic institution.

 


Chemistry Requirement

  • High School or College level Chemistry (C or higher, no time limit) Lab component is not required.

 


Math Requirement

Applicants must meet ONE of the following (no time limit):

  • High School Algebra (final grade C or higher)
  • MAT110 or equivalent (final grade C or higher)
  • MAT094 or equivalent (final grade C or higher)
  • MAT002 or MAT061 (final grade C or higher completed Fall 2016 or later)
  • Module 8 or higher.
  • Test Scores: 
      • Math proficiency and CEAR score of 54 or NGQA score of 262 or higher. 
      • Math ACT score of 22 or higher. 
      • SAT score of 510 or higher (pre-2016)
      • SAT score of 540 or higher (2016 or later)
      • College level math course with final grade of C or higher
