Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals and an integral part of the medical team providing surgical care to patients. NSCC’s Surgical Technology Associate in Applied Science degree is a fully accredited program that combines lectures, laboratory activities, simulation, and operating room experience. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to take the national certification examination, which is required in Massachusetts for employment as a surgical technologist.

Minimum Expectations Statement: “To prepare entry-level Surgical Technologists who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession.”

NSCC’s Surgical Technology Associate in Applied Science degree program is Selective Admissions and has specific requirements for acceptance. Students seeking admission into the Surgical Technology program must fulfill these requirements.

Here are the required courses for NSCC’s Surgical Technology Associate in Applied Science degree program.

All applicants to NSCC’s Surgical Technology Associate in Applied Science degree program are required to attend a Mandatory Information Session. Mandatory Information Sessions will be held virtually and on the Danvers campus, please see each date for location of information session. Each session runs approximately one hour. If the information session is via Zoom, you will receive a zoom link 24-hours before the beginning of the meeting.

Sessions will begin promptly at the scheduled time.

If the information session is on campus, please arrive ten minutes prior to the start of the session. If information session is via Zoom, candidates should log on ten minutes prior to the start of the session to allow time to troubleshoot technology issues while in the waiting room. Candidates who are over ten minutes tardy will not be admitted to the information session. Late candidates will need to sign up and attend a future session to meet the application requirement. 

 

Student Learner Outcomes for NSCC’s Surgical Technology Associate in Applied Science degree program are detailed in NSCC’s Academic Catalog.

Total tuition and General and Technology Fees for In-state Residents without financial aid is $13,180 for the 60-credits Surgical Technology Associate in Applied Science degree program (fees vary by program).

Additional Program Fees: $450 per term

Books and course materials, transportation, and health insurance expenses are not included in the tuition and fee costs.

The Board of Trustees reserves the right to increase fees without prior notice. The MA Board of Higher Education reserves the right to increase tuition without prior notice.
