Jump-Start Your College Journey!

NSCC offers motivated students the opportunity to take real college courses while still in high school or being home-schooled. Our dual enrollment opportunities are designed to meet different student needs and goals. Ready to launch your college and career path early?

Here are the types of programs available:

Dual Enrollment

The Dual Enrollment option is a flexible way for eligible students to start earning college credit. Dual Enrollment provides the opportunity for high school and homeschool students to take college courses while still in high school. Students who successfully complete and pass their college courses will earn college credit and, at the high school’s discretion, earn high school credit. To learn more about Dual Enrollment, including the cost of attendance, course options, and the application process, contact Jake Pierog, Academic Counselor, at jpierog@northshore.edu.

Early College

Early College focuses on broad access and career success through strong institutional partnerships. The Early College Initiative aims to give thousands of Massachusetts students, particularly first-generation college-goers, access to college completion and career success. This program creates and maintains partnerships connecting districts and high schools with colleges. NSCC partners with high schools/districts that participate in the Commonwealth’s Early College High School Designation pathway. Students interested in Early College should contact their high school guidance counselor or early college coordinator. (DHE Early College Initiative).

NSCC’s Early College Partners include:

Gateway to College

Gateway to College is an early college program designed specifically to reengage young people with their education. The program helps students launch postsecondary careers while simultaneously completing high school diplomas. Gateway to College operates in partnership with Achieving the Dream. Students from the following school districts may be eligible to participate: Lynn Public Schools, Masconomet Regional High School, Reading High School, and Revere High School. For additional information about Gateway to College contact Eric Ong, Academic Coordinator, at eong@northshore.edu

Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Partnership (CDEP)

The Massachusetts Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Partnership (CDEP) provides opportunities for Massachusetts high school students to take college-level courses for free or at a discounted price and earn credit toward high school completion and their future college degrees.

Each Spring, North Shore Community College receives limited CDEP grant funds to sponsor up to six individual dual enrollment students, based on CDEP’s eligibility guidelines. Funds are available on a first come, first served basis; priority is given to first-generation, low-income students who take courses that fall within the Mass Transfer Block. Students must also earn high school credit for successfully completing and passing the grant funded course. For more information, please contact Cheryl Ryan at cryan@northshore.edu.
