Combine healthcare and administrative support with a career in Medical Assisting
Medical assistants are multi-skilled health professionals that work alongside doctors,
nurses and other healthcare specialists in hospitals, medical offices and clinics
performing administrative and clinical duties.
NSCC’s Medical Assisting one-year certificate program provides classroom instruction
and practicum experience that emphasizes patient care in the office or clinic, as
well as administrative and communication skills. Upon graduation, students may find
employment opportunities in private physicians' offices, group practices, ambulatory
care clinics, HMO clinics, community health centers, and public health facilities.
Minimum Expectations Statement: “To prepare medical assistants who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession.”
