NSCC has a long tradition of providing education and training to veterans and current members of the armed forces who are seeking to learn new skills to add to their military experience.

If you’re returning to school later in life, NSCC offers a wide range of adult-learning opportunities designed to help learners of all backgrounds gain new skills, earn credentials, and advance their careers.

Adult Learning Center
  • Provides free college- and career-readiness classes in literacy, math, and HiSET or GED prep. Classes are offered on the Danvers and Lynn campuses. There’s also an online distance learning option for students who can’t attend in person.
MassSTEP IT Training Program
  • A 20-week free program combining IT instruction with workplace readiness and HiSET prep. Certifications offered include: CyberSafe, CompTIA IT Fundamentals, Service Desk & Support Analyst, OSHA. Runs on the Danvers campus.
Credit for Prior Learning
  • Allows adults to earn college credit for work experience, military experience, or other life learning. Alternative assessments, portfolio review, standardized exams, and directed studies are available. Testing services include HiSET/GED, placement exams, CLEP, and more.
Noncredit & Workforce Training Courses
  • NSCC offers a variety of noncredit professional development and certification classes in business, healthcare, communication, technology and more. These courses are perfect for those expanding skills, preparing for certification, or transforming their career path without committing to a full degree. Offered through the Corporate and Professional Education division. 
Noncredit Course to Credit Pathways
  • Through NSCC’s Noncredit & Credit Alignment Lab (NCAL), noncredit courses can be applied toward credit degrees or certificates. Example: MassSTEP IT noncredit course aligned with credit programs in Computer Applications, Programming, Cybersecurity, etc.
Free Community College for Adults 25+
  • Adults aged 25 and older with no college degree may be eligible for free tuition, fees, and books through the MassReconnect program. Must be a Massachusetts resident, enroll at least 6 credits/semester, and complete the FAFSA.

Already attended college? NSCC lets you transfer your credits to one of its associate degree programs.

NSCC’s Early College Partnership and Dual Enrollment Program provides an opportunity for qualified high school and home-schooled students to earn college credit while completing high school graduation requirements.
