How to apply and enroll
While North Shore Community College may issue an I-20 if the student applying to the College meets all of the criteria outlined in the application, we do not guarantee entry into the United States. All final decisions concerning a student's ability to attend on campus courses at North Shore Community College are made by USCIS.

International Student Course Load
All international students must maintain a full-time course load (12 credits or more) each semester and be in good standing with college academically and with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) while studying in the United States in order to fulfill visa requirements. North Shore Community College does not issue I-20's for the student visas for admittance into the English as a Second Language (ESL), Selective Admissions, or Aviation programs/pathways.
Required Documents
- Proof of high school completion (copy of diploma or official high school transcript)
- An official copy of transcripts from all U.S. colleges you attended (if applicable). If you have foreign college credits, you will to submit a professional evaluation of your coursework. Please contact one of these agencies directly: Evaluation of Foreign Credentials>
- Proof that you are proficient in English. If English is not your first language, you
are required to submit proof of English proficiency. We accept the follow minimum
TOEFL score report:
- 500 or higher on the paper-based test
- 173 on the computer-based test
- 61 on the iBT
- We do not accept IELTS or other similar exams
- Proof that you have sufficient funds (minimum $33,278) to support yourself during your first year of study.
- Photocopy of biographical page of passport
- If an international transfer student, copy of your prior I-20
- If you currently hold a different visa status, a copy of the visa page on your passport as well as a copy of your most up to date I-94

For applicants who are attending another institution in the United States wishing to transfer: Transfer I-20/Active F1 Visa Status Transfer.
Applicants who wish to request a change of visa status to F1 within the US should consult with an immigration attorney regarding eligibility and deadlines.

Financial Aid: No financial assistance is available from NSCC for international students. International student applicants are responsible for all costs associated with studying in the U.S. At no point is an international student on an F1 visa eligible for in-state-tuition.
