The steps below ensure a successful transition to college for new students and students transferring into NSCC.

1. Set up your MyNorthShore student portal account

MyNorthShore is NSCC's main portal for all campus business.

2. Complete your placement tests

New students need to be evaluated for skill levels in key areas of math, reading, and writing. This can be completed through past GPA on your High School or College Transcripts or through Accuplacer Placement Testing.

3. Attend a Virtual Registration session

NSCC's advisors will help you choose the classes right for you. Sign up now and create a class schedule that works for you with ALL the right classes to keep you on track.

4. Virtual Orientation for new students

Once you register, you can choose your Orientation date to meet fellow students, interact with academic staff, learn key skills to navigate college, and complete your last-minute details.

5. Payment

Payment for college can be arranged by submitting a complete financial aid application, enrollment in a Payment Plan, Direct Payment via check or credit card, or a combination of these payment options.

It is important to complete your FAFSA and financial aid paperwork so you can receive financial aid. The earlier you begin the process, the earlier you’ll know the amount available to you.
