General information about work-study
Federal Work-Study is a financial aid program that allows eligible students to earn money through part-time jobs while enrolled in school. These jobs are typically on campus or with approved community partners and are designed to be flexible around your class schedule while helping you gain work experience. To participate, you must be awarded Federal Work-Study as part of your financial aid package. Not all students qualify, so it’s important to complete your FAFSA early and review your award carefully. If you are eligible, the amount you are awarded represents the maximum you can earn through work-study during the academic year.
How to Apply for Work-Study Jobs
If you are awarded Federal Work-Study, you can begin applying for jobs through the college’s job posting system. Available positions are limited, so it’s important to apply early. Once you receive a job offer, you must complete all required hiring paperwork before you can begin working. This includes employment authorization forms and tax documents. You will also need to provide identification to verify your eligibility to work.

Work-study students are paid for the hours they work, typically on a biweekly schedule. Your earnings are paid directly to you and are not automatically applied to your tuition bill. You can only earn up to the amount of your work-study award. Once you reach that limit, you are no longer eligible to continue working under the program unless additional funding is approved.
It is your responsibility to accurately report your hours and submit timesheets on time. Late or missing timesheets may delay your paycheck.

To continue participating in work-study, you must maintain satisfactory academic progress. This includes meeting minimum GPA requirements and successfully completing your courses. If you fall below these standards, you may lose your eligibility for both financial aid and work-study.
More information regarding satisfactory academic progress can be found under Policies.
Work-study funding is limited and jobs are not guaranteed, even if you are eligible. You must actively apply and secure a position. Work hours are usually limited to part-time and scheduled around your classes.
Because work-study is part of your financial aid, changes to your enrollment or academic standing may affect your eligibility. It’s important to stay enrolled in at least six credits and remain in good academic standing.
