Melissa ChristensenDr. Melissa Christensen has joined North Shore Community College (NSCC) as the new Executive Director of Institutional Research, effective September 23, 2024.

In her new role, she will serve as the college’s lead data officer and will be responsible for data quality, integrity, and data governance as well as the development and implementation of policies, procedures and processes relevant to institutional research.

Dr. Christensen brings over 13 years of experience in the education sector, with expertise in administration, institutional research, data analysis, assessment, accreditation, and teaching and learning.  Most recently, she served as the Director of Institutional Effectiveness at Plymouth State University. In this role, she significantly enhanced the data culture on campus by introducing self-service products such as dashboards and reporting tools, establishing robust academic assessment processes, offering professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, providing leadership in their recent successful NECHE accreditation, and collaborating with senior leadership on strategic planning in support of the university’s goals and mission.

Dr. Christensen earned her Ed.D. from the University of Miami, focusing her research on human motivation as related to learning and the development of learning organizations. Additionally, she holds an M.B.A. from Plymouth State University and a B.S. in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University.
