If you are a Lynn high school senior graduating from Lynn English, Classical or Voc Tech, North Shore Community College is extending automatic admission and a $500 scholarship to all who register for at least two classes at the college for fall 2023.

The pilot project, designed to encourage more Lynn seniors to continue onto college and to address accessibility and financial barriers, was rolled out this week by the college in partnership with the three high schools.

Seniors were invited to assemblies where they received an admission packet featuring a simplified admission form, financial aid (FAFSA) information and invites to special events planned for all Lynn graduates who accept the offer and enroll.

“We are doing this because we are a community college and our first duty is to the communities we serve. Our communities need Lynn high school graduates and a college education will give you a great start in your adult life,” said NSCC President William Heineman in the assemblies. “I suggest you comparison shop our offer with what other colleges will cost and then I hope you take a chance on NSCC because we believe you will be successful with us!”

Interim LPS Superintendent Debra Ruggerio said, “I want to thank NSCC for this offer to our seniors and to our community and I highly recommend that our seniors take this offer seriously if you have not yet figured out what you are doing after high school.

“What you do after high school is a BIG deal and this is a wonderful opportunity. When I was where you are it didn’t seem that going to college would be possible financially. But then circumstances and opportunity came into play. Opportunities often arise that create options and THIS is a great option,” Ruggerio.said.
