I am pleased to report that at our recent NSCC Board of Trustees meeting, our Board unanimously approved the Gender Pronoun Policy. The language of the policy is as follows:
In keeping with diversity, inclusion, and equity, students may use the gender pronoun that aligns with their gender identity in any capacity at NSCC. Students may use the gender pronoun that aligns with their gender identity in all forms of communication and course work including but not limited to narrative essay and speech assignments and not be penalized for doing so.
Thank you to our Board for their unwavering support for diversity, equity, and inclusion at NSCC. I would also like to thank the members of the Diversity Leadership Council's (DLC) Gender Pronoun Policy Subcommittee and their resolve in bringing this policy to fruition. They are Lucy Bayard (Accessibility Services, DLC Chair), Dr. Laurie Carlson (English), and Dr Kristin Erbetta (Behavioral Science).
