North Shore Community College is actively recruiting for a free new initiative, Men as Leaders Empowered to Strive (MALES) in an effort to support a strategic state initiative, “100 Males to College.”

“100 Males to College” was created in 2015 to increase college access, enrollment, retention, and success for low-income males and males of color (LIM MOC) and particularly young, low-income Latino and African American men so that their prospects for success in college and career are more attainable. For more information see 100 Males to College.

NSCC’s Summer Bridge Program will prepare eligible male minority students for success by offering them a head start on academics and saving them up to $1,300 in tuition and fees. The free program will be held on the Lynn Campus, 300 Broad Street, from July 10 – August 16, 2018. Classes run twice a week from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Breakfast, lunch and afternoon refreshments will be provided.  Limited seats are available.

Students in the Summer Bridge Program will: explore what it means to be a minority male in college; identify the importance of a college education; learn how skills, interests, and values inform career options identify support services specific to their needs; improve math and computer skills and learn the importance of financial literacy.
