Attend Mandatory Information Session

Applicants must attend a Mandatory Information Session prior to submission of your application. Applicants must attend a session during the academic year prior to admission (after Sept. 2020). Upcoming dates will be available on this page. Attendance will be recorded.

 

NSCC Online Application for Admission

Submit the online application for the year for which you are applying; regardless of whether you are a new or current student (a previously submitted application does not count).

 

High School Transcript or GED score report

Upload a copy of your high school transcript or GED score report. If you previously submitted the transcript or score report and attended classes within the past 5 years, then Enrollment likely has it on file. You can confirm by emailing: SelectiveAdmissions@northshore.edu

 

Math Proficiency

There are many ways to demonstrate Math Proficiency. If you have demonstrated proficiency with your SAT scores or Accuplacer testing from another institution, please upload that document to your application. If you have demonstrated proficiency with your high school GPA or with college level courses, this will be updated upon review of your submitted materials.

* NOTE: Students will be required to meet the prerequisites for CHE115 to remain on track in the program. CHE115 math prerequisites include Mathematics Proficiency AND one of the following:

  • NGQA 247 or above
  • CEAR 54 or above
  • PSAT Math 540 or higher
  • SATM 510 or above (if taken prior to 2016) or SATM 540 or above
  • ACT 22 or above
  • * High School GPA 2.7 or above (*Must be within 3 years post high school.)
  • MAT 091 or MAT 002 or MAT 061 or MAT 094 with a C or better
  • Math Module 8 or above.

 

Essay

A word-processed essay must be uploaded for the year in which you are applying. Please compose an essay detailing your answer to the following questions:
What led you to an interest in the field of funeral service? What do you feel you can contribute to this profession that is unique? Why do you feel you would be a good candidate for the funeral services program at NSCC?

 

There are many ways to demonstrate Communications Proficiency. If you have demonstrated proficiency with your SAT scores or Accuplacer testing from another institution, please upload that document to your application. If you have demonstrated proficiency with your high school GPA or with college level courses, this will be updated upon review of your submitted materials.

Official transcripts from all Colleges/Universities previously attended

All official transcripts from previously attended Colleges/Universities must be submitted directly to NSCC and uploaded by Admissions staff. If you have previously submitted transcripts and have since completed courses or are currently registered for courses, then you need to submit an updated transcript. Transcripts may be sent electronically from your college(s) to NSCC at: SelectiveAdmissions@northshore.edu

Resume

Submit a detailed resume including professional experience, volunteer experience, education, and professional organizations that you are a member of. Please include any funeral home experience, if applicable.

 

Letter of Recommendation

Applicants must submit ONE letter of recommendation. It is preferred that the letter be from a licensed funeral professional or similar field, if available. You will need to enter the name and email of your reference into your application and a direct link to upload a letter of recommendation will be sent directly to them. (Your application will not be complete and able to be submitted until this has been entered.)
