Danvers Open House a Great Success!
This past Saturday, March 9th, the college held our Spring Open House on the Danvers campus. With over 220 guests in attendance, the Berry Building was bustling with prospective students and their families.
A huge thank you to all who dedicated their Saturday to ensuring we provided guests with a pleasant experience as they learned about our academic programs, support services, and new initiatives such as MassReconnect, and of course, toured the campus and checked out our amazing new Health space. Women's History Month
Women’s History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized and requested the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week.” Throughout the next five years, Congress continued to pass joint resolutions designating a week in March as “Women’s History Week.” In 1987 after being petitioned by the National Women’s History Project, Congress passed Pub. L. 100-9 which designated the month of March 1987 as “Women’s History Month.” Between 1988 and 1994, Congress passed additional resolutions requesting and authorizing the President to proclaim March of each year as Women’s History Month. Since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.” These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.
"The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights." - Gloria Steinem
As always, we welcome and invite the NSCC community to participate in this year's Women's History Month celebrations through the various events happening here, especially at the NSCC Libraries, and in the North Shore all month long.

Join us for Mental Health First Aid Training, April 5!
Deadline to Register March 19
Mental Health First Aid is being offered to NSCC faculty, staff, and students. It is designed to help address the Mental Health concerns of our students and our colleagues. It is our goal that each of you view MHFA similar to that of CPR - you won't be a doctor when you finish the training, but you could help someone who is having a mental health challenge.
The training focuses on helping participants recognize someone who is having a mental
health challenge, how to approach them (if you choose to), how to engage in reflective
listening, and how to assist the individual to connect with appropriate services within
the community. A major focus of this training is also speaking about the need for
self-care, as each of us encounters stressors in our day-to-day life. The National
Council for Mental Wellbeing provides the
certification upon completion of the training.
Please note that this is on a first-come, first-served basis. The training is open for up to 24 participants per session.
Deadline for this selected training: Tuesday, March 19th
