Students in the Radiologic Technology program perform their clinical internship at either Beverly Hospital/Addison Gilbert Hospital, Salem Hospital or Union Hospital. Students accepted to the RT program are placed at a clinical site by the program placement committee. The RT program is proud to have affiliation agreements with these exceptional area hospitals and students greatly benefit from their clinical experiences.

Clinical Rotation assignments are scheduled at North Shore Medical Center, Union Hospital, Beverly Hospital, Addison Gilbert Hospital and the Lahey Outpatient Center at Danvers. Clinical Rotations are scheduled opposite to the classroom instruction days.

Freshmen Tues, Thurs Mon, Wed, Fri
Sophomores Mon, Wed, Fri Tues, Thurs

Freshmen will also attend a summer clinical which has them attend their clinical site Mon-Fri for 12 weeks.

Students will be scheduled in a variety of examination rooms that will allow them to complete their clinical competency examinations that correlate with the didactic positioning class instruction. Freshmen students will rotate through the following areas: Fluoroscopy, Outpatient Imaging, Inpatient Imaging, Emergency Room, Portables and Operating Room. During the first semester freshmen spend a majority of clinical in general diagnostic areas and Fluoroscopy and get increasing exposure to the ER, OR, and portable radiography as their skills develop.

In addition to the aforementioned areas, sophomore students rotate through other diagnostic modalities including MRI, Interventional Radiology, and Computed Tomography. Students may also choose an elective rotation through Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Cardiac Catheterization Lab or an Evening/Weekend shift to better understand other medical imaging modalities and to help with potential career path decisions.

The RT program at NSCC is authorized by the program's accreditation bureau to accept no more than fifteen (15) incoming freshman students for each class. This number is determined so that each student has the opportunity to complete the clinical competency requirements needed in order to sit for the National Certification examination in Radiologic Technology.
