The Animal Care Specialist program is designed for students wishing to work with dogs, cats, birds, and other small animals in various aspects. The program focuses on behavior/training, nutrition, animal health, as well as the business and ethical aspects of animal care and management.
Graduates of the ASD degree program generally seek employment in various fields such as: Animal Control, Shelter and Rescue, Animal Day Care and Boarding, Kennel Management, Dog Walking, Training, Grooming, Retail Pet Business, and other professional occupations related to the management and care of pets.
Simultaneous awarding of Certificate and Degree policy: Certificates whose coursework is embedded in an Associate's degree program will not be awarded simultaneously in the same term as the degree is awarded; i.e. Animal Care Specialist (ASD) and Animal Care Specialist Certificate (ASC).
