Get ready for college!

NSCC’s STEM Summer Academy is an opportunity for incoming students to participate in a FREE 2-week summer program alongside a tight cohort of fellow students with similar interests in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The program runs Monday through Thursday and is finished by early afternoon, leaving you plenty of time for other activities. NSCC’s STEM Summer Academy prepares students for success by giving you a head start on navigating college!

This program is for incoming students interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) majors.

 

We are now accepting applications for Summer 2024.

Advanced Manufacturing, Aviation Management, Aviation Science Professional Pilot, Animal Care Specialist, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Aided Design, Computer Applications, Computer Information Systems, Computer Networking, Cybersecurity and Computer Networking, Computer Programming, Computer Science Transfer, Construction and Building Science, Database Management and Security, Engineering Science Transfer, Engineering Technology, Environmental Studies, Health Science, Horticulture, Pre-Engineering, STEM Foundation, Math, Veterinary Technology

Program Eligibility 

  • Participants should be planning to take classes at NSCC in the Fall 2024 semester.

  • Priority will be given to incoming (new) NSCC students who plan to start at NSCC in the Summer 2024 semester or Fall 2024 semester.

  • Priority will be given to applicants who have graduated from high school or received a GED by August 14, 2024.

What’s Included

  • Participants who complete the program will receive a stipend!
    Participants can choose to receive the money as a check in the mail or by direct deposit to their bank account after completing the program.

  • Practice and refresh your math skills.
    Participate in our Math Success Lab which focuses on skills to be a strong college math student. Topics include algebra, fractions, percents, linear equations and graphing, and introduction to polynomials. 

  • Learn tips for navigating college.
    Learn about NSCC programs that are useful resources available to you during college. Meet some of our STEM professors and college staff.

  • Explore careers in STEM.
    Hear from STEM professionals and check out NSCC STEM labs.

  • Meet other students interested in STEM.
    Hear current NSCC STEM students share their experiences and words of wisdom for new students.

  • Lunch is provided.
