Committed to ending hunger on campus
Across the country, four-year colleges and universities, and two-year community colleges are reporting an increasing number of students arrive to class hungry or food insecure – defined as the lacking reliable access to sufficient quantities of affordable, nutritious food to class. A 2018 survey of 86,000 students from 123 two- and four-year institutions throughout the United States by the Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice, showed that 45% of respondents were food insecure in the prior 30 days. NSCC is committed to removing this obstacle for students by offering free farmers market-style distribution of food, fresh fruits and vegetables, and food vouchers to address sudden emergencies.
