Providing scholarship assistance
Providing scholarship assistance for students at North Shore Community College is a significant part of the NSCC Foundation's mission. As higher education becomes increasingly expensive, it becomes more important than ever to guarantee access to financial assistance for NSCC students.
Types of Gifts to Initiate a Scholarship
- Endowed gift ($15,000) Establish a named scholarship with a minimal principal gift of $15,000 (which may be pledged and paid over a period of years). These funds are carefully invested by the NSCC Foundation and interest earned on the fund is awarded as a named scholarship.
- Annual gift ($750 minimum) donors establish a named scholarship by contributing a specific amount each year (current minimum is $750 per semester). The funds are then awarded as a named scholarship. 100% of your gift goes to your student(s) recipient(s).
- One-time gift ($750 minimum) one time gifts for scholarships may also be made. Gifts are distributed as named scholarships until the fund is depleted. 100% of your gift goes to your student(s) recipient(s).
How to establish a Scholarship
Named Scholarships may be set up through the NSCC Foundation at any time by filling a simple one page Agreement form and including your gift. All gifts to the NSCC Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed under current law. NSCC acknowledges all donations, is responsible for full fund accounting and provides a report to donors every year.
Scholarship donors may designate specific programs of study they want to support. Scholarships are awarded each spring for the following academic year through a formal competitive process implemented by the College's Scholarship Committee. Applications are reviewed and rated, then scholarships are distributed by a Foundation committee to appropriate recipients.
