Welcome to the
Equality & Equity Project
The Equality & Equity Project was created by four members of the NSCC Anti-Racism Working Group, a committee that
was convened in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. As part of our commitment
to Anti-Racism, Diversity & Inclusion, the Equality & Equity Project will provide historical and present-day information about the contributions, challenges,
culture, and daily lives of the many vital groups that make up our NSCC community,
and the larger world.
We invite you to visit often, reflect on what you see and read, discuss it with others and, hopefully, expand your knowledge base, appreciation, and understanding of groups beyond your own. Together we can achieve:
- Equality (‘quality or state of being equal’), the ideal for our NSCC community, and to a larger extent, our global community.
- Equity (‘freedom from bias or favoritism, the quality of being fair and impartial’), the path to equality.
Think about this. . .
Voter fraud isn’t statistically a problem in this country. Write to your state representative and senator to ban voter ID laws, ease the voter registration process, implement early voting, and implement voting-by-mail, to ensure access for all registered voters.

SENSE Survey
This fall, NSCC will be participating in the Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE), a national survey of institutional practices and student behaviors during the earliest weeks of college. SENSE is an initiative of the Center for Community College Student Engagement at The University of Texas at Austin. SENSE results will help us better understand the entering student experience.
This online survey will be administered to all students who are new to NSCC (both new and transfer) between the fourth and seventh class weeks of the fall academic term. Emails announcing the survey and inviting participation will be sent directly to students on Tuesday, September 29th. The survey will close on Friday, October 23rd. The results will be provided to NSCC in the spring of 2021.
If you are an instructor who teaches or are staff who interact with entering students, please encourage your students to complete SENSE.
To learn more, please visit www.ccsse.org/sense.
