Kudos Korner
Congratulations to Dr. Jennifer Harris, Professor, Behavioral Science, who was honored at the July 23 Blue Jays vs Red Sox
game as a "Most Valuable Educator." Jennifer, shown at Fenway Park, was nominated
by President Heineman and Assistant Provost Andrea DeFusco-Sullivan when NSCC alum Nathaniel Montero, Class of 2016, now working as Community Relations Coordinator for the Sox, reached
out with the opportunity. Jennifer shared that as a young woman she dreamed of being
a sports broadcaster or sports psychiatrist. Responding to an amazing outpouring
of congratulations on NSCC's Facebook page, Jennifer said,
"I am truly overwhelmed and humbled. Thanks especially to my former students. I wouldn't
be here without you. It was a wonderful and special day."

Blackboard Learn Assistance for Students
If you are working with a student who has questions about using Blackboard Learn (navigating
course content, posting a discussion thread, submitting an assignment, taking a quiz,
etc.) or who is experiencing technical issues with Blackboard Learn (accessing Blackboard
Learn, viewing a course site, opening documents, attaching assignment files, etc.),
please send them our way. We are happy to help and are available virtually as well
as in person. We can also assist students who have questions about NSCC's online learning
landscape.
To schedule an appointment or connect with us virtually, students can send an email
to the NSCC Blackboard Learn Helpdesk at bbhelp@northshore.edu. Students can also stop by CTLI offices in Danvers DB388 and Lynn LS313. Office hours

Welcome to the
Equality & Equity Project
As part of our commitment to Anti-Racism, Diversity & Inclusion, the Equality & Equity Project will provide historical and present-day information about the contributions, challenges,
culture, and daily lives of the many vital groups that make up our NSCC community,
and the larger world.
We invite you to visit often, reflect on what you see and read, discuss it with others and, hopefully, expand your knowledge base, appreciation, and understanding of groups beyond your own.
Think about this:
Be an ally to people of different faiths. Reach out to your colleagues or classmates
of different faiths during key holidays to acknowledge their experience. During Ramadan,
for example, message a Muslim friend and ask: "How is Ramadan going? How was your
iftar last night?" (Iftar is the meal Muslims have at sunset after a day of fasting
from food and water.)
If you have any questions or comments on NSCC's Equality & Equity Project, please contact us at EqualityEquity@northshore.
