Drive-Thru Grad Celebration a Success!
Nearly 200 students came through our Drive-Thru Grad Celebration on Saturday, May 22 and 100+ faculty and staff were on hand to cheer them on! Each student drove onto campus, many with family and friends in their vehicles, and received a gift box, then proceeded along the celebration route. There, groups of celebrators, waving signs, pompoms and noisemakers, shouted their excited congratulations as the 2021 graduates passed through.
Thank you to EVERYONE who came out on a Saturday and whose hard work and enthusiasm made the Drive-Thru Grad Celebration a success!

Virtual Commencement Ceremony
Congratulations to our Class of 2021!
Our 55th Commencement Ceremony (virtual) was also held on Saturday, May 22, 3pm (2:30pm pre-show.) Davina Yannetty gave a beautiful a capella rendition of the National Anthem and student speaker Derek Brennan inspired us with his story of overcoming numerous difficulties in his life, culminating in his success at NSCC. Governor Charlie Baker sent greetings, encouragement, and words of wisdom to the Class of 2021.
Most importantly, the names of each of our 2021 graduating students were read as family, friends, faculty and staff congratulated them via chat.
If you were unable to join us for the premiere of our 2021 Virtual Commencement Ceremony, click here for the recorded ceremony and for the program booklet listing the names of our graduating students.

City of Lynn Honors Professor Tiffany Magnolia
Kudos to Professor Tiffany Magnolia on being recognized by Lynn Mayor Thomas McGee's office with a citation of honor
for her work with Lynn's Latina Center Maria. Specifically, "In Recognition of Latina
Center Maria's 'Inspirational Woman' 2021 Award for 'Outstanding Professor.'" The LCM's mission is to empower Latina women who speak little or no English, through education. "The fact
that the citation specifically honors Tiffany as an Inspirational Woman and Outstanding
Professor is doubly meaningful," said Dean Andrea DeFusco-Sullivan.
Tiffany is pictured left, along with Magalie Torres-Rowe, President of Latina Center Marias.

Welcome to the
Equality & Equity Project
As part of our commitment to Anti-Racism, Diversity & Inclusion, the Equality & Equity Project will provide historical and present-day information about the contributions, challenges,
culture, and daily lives of the many vital groups that make up our NSCC community,
and the larger world.
We invite you to visit often, reflect on what you see and read, discuss it with others
and, hopefully, expand your knowledge base, appreciation, and understanding of groups
beyond your own.
May Deep Dive:
The sacred Lakota mountain called The Six Grandfathers, was appropriated to become Mount Rushmore. Mount Rushmore's creator had ties with white supremacy groups.
Think About This
Seek out a diverse group of friends for your kids. And, seek out a diverse group of
friends for you. Practice real friendship and intimacy by listening when POC talk
about their experiences and their perspectives. They’re speaking about their pain.
If you have any questions or comments on NSCC's Equality & Equity Project, please contact us at EqualityEquity@northshore.
