The Peer Discussion Group (PDG) is an informative support group facilitated by a Disability Counselor that meets monthly for students with disabilities. Students will learn strategies to increase their academic success, form peer relationships in a safe and confidential forum, and discuss topics of interest. New attendees are always welcome and you may participate at your comfort level and availability.

Who can attend?

You may join if you have attended NSCC for more than two semesters. If so, please join us to meet your peers and share strategies, challenges, and successes!

Why attend?

  • Meet other students in a confidential and friendly atmosphere

  • Develop strategies to achieve your academic goals

  • Select topics based on your interests and needs

  • Attendance is free and optional

Discussion topics will include how to:

  • Develop self-advocacy skills and learn your rights as a student

  • Identify your academic strengths and learn goal planning

  • Develop organization and time management skills

  • When and how to disclose your disability

  • Use your accommodations effectively

  • Balance schoolwork with other responsibilities

  • Identify and learn stress management skills
