Prepare for a career in the life sciences field with a degree in Biotechnology
Biotechnology uses living organisms to make products or improve processes and combines elements of biology, chemistry, engineering, and computing. NSCC’s Biotechnology Associate of Arts degree program has been developed with the guidance of biotechnology firms throughout the area to assure students acquire skills that can be applied in a wide variety of biotechnology industries, from manufacturing to research.
NSCC’s STEM-focused program also combines a strong liberal arts foundation, providing transfer credits to four-year programs and saving you thousands of dollars by spending your first two years at NSCC.
As a student in NSCC’s Biotechnology Associate of Arts degree program, you will:
- Benefit from hands-on training with specific and extensive biotechnological applications in the laboratory.
- Perform required lab techniques including cell cultures, purification and analysis of proteins and nucleic acids, and gene manipulation by using and maintaining the adequate lab equipment.
- Explain underlying principles, theories and mechanisms of individual experiment.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills in solving software development problems.
