North Shore Community College is a cornerstone of the region's economic vitality and is a sought-after and respected partner in its overall growth and development. More than 220,000 North Shore residents have taken academic, career training or professional development courses at NSCC since 1965. Most importantly, more than 87% of our 32,000 graduates live and work on the North Shore.

Recent Highlights

  • NSCC awarded 1,494 credit certificates in technical and career programs and 3,283 credit associate degrees in the last five years (FY06 – FY10), including 294 Nursing degrees.
  • NSCC delivered 4,150 not-for-credit Workforce Development/Job Skills Training courses to 26,197 enrolled individuals across the state in the last five years (FY06 – FY10).
  • NSCC offers Health Care and Health Care Support programs that meet workforce needs for credit (RN, LPN, Respiratory Therapy Asst., PTA, OTA, Radiation Therapist, EMT, and others) and for non-credit (CNA, Medical Assisting, Patient Care Technician, Medical Lab Technician, Medical Interpreting, Home Health Aide, and others).
  • NSCC provides STEM programs (credit and non-credit) in collaboration with business and industry across the state in areas such as Advanced Manufacturing (including Telecommunications Technology/Verizon, Energy Utility Technology/National Grid), Manufacturing/General Electric, Biotechnology/Applied Sciences, Information Technology, and Green/Environmental Studies (including Solar Technology, Sustainable/Renewable Energy, Green Facilities Management).
  • NSCC collaborates with regional WIB's, community-based organizations, labor unions, area CDC's, and K-12 school systems in education and training partnerships that provide transitions from pre-college (GED, ESOL, ABE) to post-secondary in a wide range of initiatives (MCAS remediation, Math Boot Camp, Biotech and Robotics programs, GED Transitions, and Breaking Through Initiative/BTI adult learner programs).
