To apply for a job on this page:

  1. Contact the Work-Study supervisor identified in the job posting to set up an appointment.
  2. During the appointment, he or she will discuss duties of the job, qualifications, and work schedule. Your work-study schedule will be planned around your classes.
  3. If you are hired, your supervisor will send a hire request to the Work-Study coordinator.

REAL Intern: The REAL Program

Campus: Off-Campus

Duties: The REAL Program interns work as tutors, mentors, role models and leaders to help elementary school age students read, improve school work and build community in a supportive setting (much of the time is spent outdoors).

As a REAL intern, you will help students learn to love to read and love to learn through fun activities, games, art, enrichment opportunities, visits to college campuses, book stores, museums and the wider community. You will provide one-on-one or small group tutoring and mentoring, monitor attendance and support positive behavior. As young leaders from North Shore Community College you are uniquely able to help students succeed.

REAL interns may also:
1. Share their commitment to service and helping children by leading programs that teach students how to be active citizens in their communities and make a difference.

2. Engage community members and corporate partners in physical service projects, including collecting and distributing children?s books, building little free libraries, painting murals, planting gardens, and creating learning spaces.

Location for REAL Summer 2018 is at North Shore Community Baptist Church, 9 Hart St. Beverly (Bus leaves Brickett School, 123 Lewis St., Lynn at 8:30am and returns to Brickett School at 1:30pm)

Location for REAL School Year 2018-2019 151 17 Atlantic St., Lynn

Qualifications: REAL interns are as diverse a group as the communities they serve. We're looking for you if are interested in working with children and you are ready to change the world.

1. Qualify for work study as outlined by North Shore Community College.

2. Agree to and pass a criminal background check.

Pay Rate: $13.00

Peer Tutor: Tutoring Center (Danvers and/or Lynn Locations)

Campus: Danvers

Duties: - Tutor students in area(s) of expertise;

- Help maintain TutorTrac records of student attendance and learning progress;

- Attend required tutor training sessions throughout the semester;

- Assist students in making appointments and logging in/out of center

- Perform other duties as necessary and as requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications: 1. Recent B+ or higher grade in assigned tutoring courses;

2. Endorsement of a faculty member;

3. Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment;

4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

5. Demonstrate qualities of patience and empathy; respect for students of all genders, gender identities, cultural/ethnic backgrounds, ages, and abilities.

Pay Rate: $11.00

Student Receptionist: Tutoring Center (Danvers and/or Lynn Locations)

Campus: Danvers

Duties: Answer telephones, greet students, log students in and out of center's TutorTrac scheduling software, and assist with general office tasks.

Qualifications: Commitment to customer service and professionalism, as well as attention to detail, required.

Familiarity with basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, also required.

Previous experience in an office setting preferred.

Pay Rate: $11.00

Student Engagement Office Clerk: Student Engagement

Campus: Lynn

Duties: Customer Service:
- Greet and assist all that comes into our office
- Answer telephone and transfer calls Use copier and fax machine
- Computer work as needed
- Collect funds for selling lockers, replacement IDs and various tickets and write receipts
- Posting flyers
- Assist with various aspects of events
- Other duties as assigned
Skills you will develop:
- Interpersonal and diplomatic
- communication skills
- Professionalism for future jobs.
- Office work will help you learn organizational skills and increase your knowledge of computers, office procedures, handling money, diplomacy and providing a pleasant work environment.

Test out lab equipment and fix as necessary.

Document lab procedures and new lab experiments.

Qualifications: Taken EGS101 and PHY201.

Must have past computer experience and engineering lab experience.

Pay Rate: $11.00
