  2. During the appointment, he or she will discuss duties of the job, qualifications, and work schedule. Your work-study schedule will be planned around your classes.
  3. If you are hired, your supervisor will send a hire request to the Work-Study coordinator.

Office Support Staff: Student Support and Advising Center

Duties: 1. Answer phones 2. Make copies when needed of materials used in the office, 3. Direct students to available counselors, 4. Assist students when signing up for Orientation, 5. Answer general students? questions, 6. Light computer work when needed, 7. Assist students to set up Pipeline, 8. Work at orientation 8a. Bring students to lecture hall 8b. Set up computers 8c. Bring students to computer rooms 8d. Assist in making packets for orientations 9. Other duties as needed.

Qualifications: Student should have successfully completed at least 9 credits. Must be prompted and dependable and must maintain satisfactory academic progress. Work at least 15 hours a week depending on need of the department.

Qualifications: Must be available Tuesdays and Thursdays, at least 4 hours each day, preferably mornings. Must be dependable, good working with the public, able to work with little supervision, have strong communications skills and good computer skills. Previous office experience helpful.

STEM Peer Mentor: STEM Starter Academy

Campus: Lynn

Duties: Expectations: Peer mentors are expected to serve as exemplary role models for new students. They are expected to abide by all College policies and local/state laws, and to maintain good academic standing. Peer mentors are also expected to work collaboratively, not only with students in the program, but also with fellow peer mentors and the faculty and staff involved in the program. Peer Mentors must represent the College and themselves in an appropriate manner in all communication, and must exhibit a high level of maturity and professionalism. Responsibilities: The specific duties of the peer mentors will vary, but the responsibilities of all mentors include the following: Outreach to new & fall accepted STEM students via email, phone, or in person Assist STEM students during New Student Orientations Represent NSCC at Admissions and Recruitment events Serve as a mentor to key gateway STEM courses Serve as a role model and resource to the incoming students, and help them create a connection to fellow incoming students and current NSCC students/faculty Work with fellow mentors and program faculty to plan and facilitate events, record student attendance, engage students in reflection, and encourage students to participate in all program activities Attend all required orientation and training meetings, and complete all required paperwork Document your mentoring activities (e.g., time worked and students mentored/tutored) on a weekly basis

Qualifications: Be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher Have been enrolled in a STEM program at the institution for at least one year Be able to enroll this fall (September 3rd - tentative start date) Be able to commit 5-15 hours a week (flexible) Possess strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Demonstrate a keen ability for working one-one and with groups of students Be highly motivated, comfortable serving as an ambassador for NSCC, and appreciative of diversity Be a positive role model for students Have a general understanding of the barriers first year STEM students face in their transition into college.
