To apply for a job on this page:

  1. Contact the Work-Study supervisor identified in the job posting to set up an appointment.
  2. During the appointment, he or she will discuss duties of the job, qualifications, and work schedule. Your work-study schedule will be planned around your classes.
  3. If you are hired, your supervisor will send a hire request to the Work-Study coordinator.
  4. Complete all necessary Work-Study forms and submit to North Shore Community College, Student Financial Services, Attn: Thea Soohoo, One Ferncroft Road, Danvers, MA 01923-0843.

Peer Tutor: Tutoring Center (Danvers and/or Lynn Locations)

Campus: Danvers

Duties: Tutor students in subject areas such as math, writing, accounting, and/or computer science

Qualifications: Must have earned a B+ or better in the subject area to tutor students in that course. Able to work with a variety of people, under pressure, and with minimal supervision.

Pay Rate: $11.00

Student Receptionist: Tutoring Center (Danvers and/or Lynn Locations)

Campus: Danvers

Duties: Answer telephones, greet students, log students in and out of center's TutorTrac scheduling software, assist with general office tasks.

Qualifications: Commitment to customer service and professionalism, as well as attention to detail, required. Familiarity with basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, also required. Previous experience in an office setting preferred.

Pay Rate: $10.00

Duties: Duties include but are not limited to: 1. Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the age of children in the program 2. Implement character development which includes values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility 3. Encourage sportsmanship and positive peer interactions 4. Use appropriate positive guidance when interacting and re-directing children 5. Responsible for the safety of the children in the program 6. Attend monthly staff meetings and in-service training program

Participate in development of SES Qualification Curriculum 2. Collaborate on creation of individual student learning plans 3. Develop lesson plans for integration of Graphic Arts Program.

Duties: Assist Lynn Upward Bound high school students with their homework. Tutoring takes place at NSCC Lynn Campus from Monday-Thursday 3pm-6pm.

Qualifications: Demonstrated high level of skills in one or more subjects. Desire to help low-income, potential first generation to college students succeed in their studies. Interest in teaching.

REAL Intern: The REAL Program

Campus: Off-Campus

Duties: The REAL Program interns work as tutors, mentors, role models and leaders to help elementary school age students read, improve school work and build community in a supportive setting (much of the time is spent outdoors). As a REAL intern, you will help students learn to love to read and love to learn through fun activities, games, art, enrichment opportunities, visits to college campuses, book stores, museums and the wider community. You will provide one-on-one or small group tutoring and mentoring, monitor attendance and support positive behavior. As young leaders from North Shore Community College you are uniquely able to help students succeed. REAL interns may also: 1. Share their commitment to service and helping children by leading programs that teach students how to be active citizens in their communities and make a difference. 2. Engage community members and corporate partners in physical service projects, including collecting and distributing children?s books, building little free libraries, painting murals, planting gardens, and creating learning spaces. Location for REAL Summer 2016 (July 11 to August 20, 2016) is at the Washington Street Baptist Church, 256 Washington St., Lynn Location for REAL School Year 2016-2017 151 Ocean St., Lynn

Duties: Plans and implements various recreation and educational programs and activities provided within the club with cooperation of the Program Director and other program staff.

Qualifications: Agree and pass a criminal background check. Student must be able to work in a fast paces environment, with large volume of youth. Student must show patience and humor. The main responsibility will be to implement programs and be willing to develop relationships with members.
