ESL Lab Assistant: ESL

Campus: Lynn

Duties: Help in the day to day operations of the ESL Computer Lab, helping ESL students study ESL curriculum, use online learning platforms,type assignments, also cleans lab, covers lab while ESL Lab Coordinator is teaching, and troubleshoots computer problems, also helps ESL Chair with clerical tasks such a s filing, shredding documents, puts up weekly tutoring sign up sheets and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Former ESL student who has completed ESL program, detail oriented, some familiarity with computers and MS Office programs, can follow instructions carefully, works well with other students, able to manage the lab with minimal supervision.

Duties: The Office Assistant will be responsible for general office duties as assigned including but not limited to: scanning and organizing electronic files, assembling instructional and non-instructional materials, organizing supplies, packing files for an anticipated office move, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: The candidate for this position must have a basic-Intermediate level experience using the Microsoft Office Suite and basic experience with social media (Facebook and Twitter). He/she should be able to read and comprehend simple instructions and apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Strong interpersonal skills a plus. Must be able to lift up to 20#. Fluency in Spanish, Khmer, or French preferred.

Develop and maintain various tracking systems needed to support program operations job site placements for Co-op Ed/Internships). 4. Retrieve data in the BANNER record systems related to student records. 5. Enter data in specific program tracking systems using MSExcel or GoogleDocs. 6. Prepare online purchase orders via internal Campus Pipeline system. 7. Prepares/collates surveys/assessment instruments each semester. 8. Handle incoming/outgoing telephone/email communications. 9. Collects, opens, and routes incoming mail and correspondence as needed. 10. Receives telephone calls, greets visitors, and provides information and/or refers inquiries to appropriate person/office. 11. Develops and maintains files, records, and databases. 12. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 1. 1 year of related clerical experience in an office environment or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Must have advance word processing, spreadsheet and database skills with a very high level of proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. 3. Must be able to take notes and compose/transcribe documents such as letters, memoranda, reports, correspondence and emails. 4. Must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students and the public. 5. Must have ability to prioritize multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision in a multi-task environment. 6. Must have strong proofreading, editing, and English language arts skills including spelling, grammar, word meaning and usage. 7. Knowledge and experience with Banner system preferred but not required.
