Peer Tutor: Tutoring

Duties: 1. Tutor individuals and small groups in area of expertise; tutors; 2. Help maintain records of student services in the Academic Support Center; 3. Help maintain the Academic Support Center and its equipment; 4. Perform other duties as necessary and as requested by the Coordinator.

Duties: Provide administrative support to Facilities Operations and Services including, but not limited to: 1. Filing and record keeping. 2. Cataloging and archiving of existing files and archiving of additional files. 3. Administering various databases of facilities equipment and supplies. 4. Fields calls from campus community regarding building repairs. 5. Enters Building service requests in the CAMIS work order system. 6. Processes, prints and distributes work orders, generated from online requests to appropriate personnel and closes completed BSR?s. 7. Call taking and information management. 8. Assists in administering various shared calendars and documents regarding facilities events, personnel absences and departmental projects.

Qualifications: Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language. Ability to use proper grammar, punctuation and spelling. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to answer phone, collect and transfer information with accuracy. Ability to learn and follow established procedures. Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes and/or symbols. Ability to file material in accordance with standard filing procedures. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to communicate effectively in oral expression. STEM Peer Mentor: STEM Starter Academy

Campus: Lynn

Duties: 1. STEM Students will be divided amongst Peer Mentors according to their STEM branch (Engineering, Computer Science, and Biotechnology). At least two Peer Mentors per branch 2. Peer Mentors will have a pool of STEM students to advise, tutor, and council, to help foster student success 3. Serve as a mentor to key gateway STEM courses in their field (key gateway courses are usually intro courses and particularly tough courses) 4. Help with outreach, retention, and success of STEM High School Dual Enrollment students at NSCC 5. Assist STEM students in the tutoring lab 6. Answer emails sent by students to STEMatNSCC@gmail.com

Qualifications: To serve as a peer mentor, you must: 1. Be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher 2. Have been enrolled in a STEM program at the institution for at least one year 3. Be available to start this fall (September 3rd - tentative start date) 4. Be able to commit 5-15 hours a week (flexible) 5. Possess strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills 6. Demonstrate a keen ability for working one-on-one and with groups of students 7. Be highly motivated, comfortable serving as an ambassador for NSCC, and appreciative of diversity 8. Be a positive role model for students 9. Have a general understanding of the barriers first year STEM students face in their transition into college.

Duties: Operate specialized work-related software, maintain electronic data storage and information-housing system, clerical, process incoming and outgoing mail, photocopying, computer inputs, translation duties, special projects as assigned. Direct contact with the public coordinating appointment schedules.

Qualifications: Responsibility and reliability are key. Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office, communication skills, willingness to learn, ability to work independently and flexibility are essential. Fluency in Spanish or other languages is desirable, but not required. Attention to detail and good typing skills are helpful.
