North Shore Community College has a long tradition of providing education and training to veterans and current members of the armed forces who are seeking to learn new skills to add to their military experience.
NSCC Veterans Services & Resources
NSCC's Veterans Services supports the educational goals of veterans as they make use of their GI Bill education benefits. Staff assists in completing the necessary paperwork to ensure proper entitlement pay and also help guide veterans toward a variety of campus resources ranging from tutoring to career and personal counseling.
NSCC advisors help students to develop a plan to attain their educational and life goals. Advisors can help identify college policies, procedures, and resources to assist students as they plan for a certificate, associate degree, or transfer to a four-year college to attain their bachelors' degree.
NSCC Career Services offers individualized assistance in career planning, resume development, interview preparation, job search resources, employer contacts, and internships.
Center for Alternative Studies (CAS)
CAS offers a variety of testing services designed to facilitate accurate course placement, and to assist students in meeting their educational goals. Along with course placement tests, some programs require entrance testing for specific career fields. CAS also reviews military transcripts in order to reward credit for experience and skills earned during service.
NSCC counselors work with students to create individual change through consultation, coordination, and classroom instruction.
NSCC's Disability Resource & Services Department, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, provides information and support services for students with disabilities, including accommodations for documented disabilities such as limitations in vision, hearing and mobility, psychological, physical, and psychiatric conditions, and learning disabilities.
Student Financial Assistance—Financial Aid
NSCC's Office of Student Financial Assistance assists veteran students and their families in planning for and meeting college expenses, including applying for financial aid.
