 CSA044 - Community and Medical Interpreting

How do I Register?
This 54-hour course, offered in collaboration with Global Link Translations & Interpreting Services, will help new and experienced interpreters to work in hospitals, health clinics, law offices, governmental agencies, and more, following the standards and ethics of the profession. This course is open to all languages, but students must be able to fully comprehend and communicate in both English and at least one other language. Because a selective interview is required before acceptance, students must register at least two weeks in advance. A certificate will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of this course and participants receiving a certificate will be given the opportunity to interview with Global Link Translation & Interpreting Services for potential employment as interpreters.

 CSA270 - Pharmacy Technician Program
Non-Credit
How do I Register?
Enter the pharmacy field and take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's (PTCB) exam. Technicians work in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies, and health care settings, working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Course content includes medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. You will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, and billing and reimbursement.

 CSA666 - Central Sterile Processing Technician

How do I Register?
Central Sterile Processing Technicians clean and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment. Technicians set up equipment and deliver them to surgical areas, hospital rooms, clinics and even patient's homes. Students learn how to assemble, adjust and check non-sterile equipment, and sterile supplies needed for surgery or other medical procedures. Learn how Central Sterile Processing departments manage inventory, order supplies, inspect, maintain, deliver and retrieve equipment and instruments for surgery, emergency room and other patient care units. Upon completion of this 100 hour program, students will be able to test for the National Certifying Exam given by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management Association (IAHCSMM). Once employed, you must accumulate 400 hours work experience within 6 months to become fully certified. Program includes classroom, lab, and experience in a sterile processing department during the clinical portion of the program. This is a physical job which requires the ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Assessment testing (at the College's Center for Alternative Testing) is required prior to registration. A CORI check is required prior to clinical experience. Clinical experience may be on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday, based on consultation with instructor in class.

 CSA687 - Certified Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide

How do I Register?
Enter the health care field with a 100-hour dual-certification training program for Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and Home Health Aide. Fulfill your classroom hours on campus and your clinical experience in a local nursing facility with our Registered Nurse instructors. Students must take the State board examination to become a Certified Nurse Assistant. You will also receive a Home Health Aide Certificate. The skills taught in our State-licensed certificate program include vital signs, moving and turning patients, personal care basics, bed making, bed bath and feeding, record keeping and responding to emergencies. The five-week class meets Monday through Thursday evenings.
Assessment testing (at the College's Center for Alternative Testing) is required prior to registration. Proof of immunizations and a negative TB test is required. A CORI check is required two weeks before class starts. You must call Lorraine @ 978-236-1204. Students must take the State board examination and become a Certified Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide in the state of Massahusetts. Note: Due to limited seating, students must withdraw one week prior to the start of class to receive a refund.

 CSA770 - CNA/HHA Career Pathways Program

How do I Register?
Students whose first language is not English will receive support from an achievement coach while training to become a Certified Nurse Assistant and Home Health Aide. Upon successful completion of this program, you will be prepared to pass the state Certified Nurse Assistant exam. You will also receive a Home Health Aide Certificate and an Alzheimer's Care Certificate. The skills taught in our state-licensed certificate program include vital signs, moving and turning patients, personal care basics, bed making, bed bath and feeding, record keeping and responding to emergencies. Additional support will include: basic skills workshops, ESL enhanced CNA/HHA curriculum, and career advising. Class will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Some daytime hours may be required. Weekly meetings with an achievement coach will also be scheduled. Training will take place at Abbott House, in Lynn.
Placement testing (at the College's Center for Alternative Studies and Educational Testing) and proof of immunization and a negative TB is required prior to registration. CORI check required. Space is limited. Call for information today at (978) 236-1200.
