Concentrate on reinforcing and developing individual reading, writing, and oral skills in preparation for Intermediate ESL classes. Intended for High-Intermediate and Advanced speakers of English as a Second Language who would like to improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Introduction to English for true beginners whose first language is not English. The course includes extensive vocabulary development, simple reading and writing tasks, basic grammatical concepts, speaking, listening and student interaction. For non-native speakers of English who want to improve their pronunciation of English sounds so that they can be more easily understood by native English speakers. You will meet individually with the instructor to help identify the sounds that are difficult. Pronunciation practice will include oral dialogues, poem recitation, and short presentations. Learn to understand the phonetic pronunciation symbols in dictionaries. Prerequisite: an intermediate level of English or above.
