You are thinking about starting your own flock of chickens and want some guidance. What is involved? What kind of house do they need? How many should I get? Are they safe? What to do about predators, winter, getting Town or City permission? In this two session class, we will visit a backyard flock, see a working setup, and talk about basic chicken biology. Feed, water, nesting, roosting, bedding, and fencing will be discussed and debated. We hope you will get the answers to your chicken questions as they apply to your situation and come away ready to refine your own plans for backyard chickens next spring. Class will meet September 19 and October 3.
