This 18 credit certificate is designed to provide career education and a credential for those entering or currently working in the field of School-Age care. School-age child care refers to out-of-school-time programs (before- and after-school, and summer programs) for children from approximately 5-12 years of age. Courses will be offered on- and off-campus in the mornings, evenings, and/or weekends to accommodate the out-of-school-time schedule. Field work is a required component of every course. This certificate can be applied to the Early Childhood Education Associate Degree (HE).
Since the program involves a field placement(s) working with vulnerable populations, students are required to undergo a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and/or Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) check. Depending on the contents of a student's CORI and/or SORI, placement may be denied. Students who are unable to participate in the field placement(s) will not meet program requirements.
North Shore Community College reserves the right to make changes in courses, program requirements, policies, and regulations as circumstances dictate. There is no guarantee that any listed course will be offered in any given semester.
