To provide formalized education for both entry level workers and current workers who do not have college education. This certificate will qualify students to work in the field of Mental Health as Direct Support Professionals, Outreach Counselors or Educational Specialists. It will also qualify students to work as Relief staff on weekends or as Part Time Staff in various Human Service Programs.
Since the program involves a field placement(s) working with vulnerable populations, students are required to undergo a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and/or Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) check. Depending on the contents of a student's CORI and/or SORI, placement may be denied. Students who are unable to participate in the field placement(s) will not meet program requirements.
This certificate program can be applied to the Human Services Practitioner Associate Degree Program.
