Graduates from this career program are prepared for a variety of employment opportunities working with adults or children with developmental disabilities in residential, vocational, educational, family support and recreational programs.
Through specialized curriculum including field placements, counseling skills and crisis intervention techniques, students integrate theory with practice in the field of developmental disabilities.
Students may choose to transfer to a four-year college following completion of this program.
Since the program involves a field placement(s) working with vulnerable populations, students are required to undergo a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and/or Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) check. Depending on the contents of a student's CORI and/or SORI, placement may be denied. Students who are unable to participate in the field placement(s) will not meet program requirements.
