North Shore Community College has an ongoing commitment to assess and improve student learning by understanding what and how students are learning. Assessment of student learning is used, therefore, to inform curriculum, pedagogy, and other factors that affect learning.
General Education Outcomes
Introduction
North Shore Community College prepares students for the challenges of living and working in a global economy through a curriculum that balances liberal arts and career education and fosters lifelong learning. Graduates of NSCC are expected to demonstrate General Education Outcomes as a result of their experience at NSCC.

The following learning outcomes represent a starting point in developing the characteristics of a generally educated person in each of our students. These learning outcomes are in the areas of written and oral communication, quantitative reasoning and critical analysis, critical thinking in relation to the ethical dimensions of the human experience, and information literacy and computer literacy.
Think.
NSCC graduates will use critical thinking with awareness of the ethical dimensions of the human experience.


Engage.
NSCC graduates will use quantitative reasoning and analyze data critically.


Discover.
NSCC graduates will be competent in information literacy and computer literacy.


Communicate.
NSCC graduates will be competent in writing and oral presentation skills.
