Edwin Soto is interested in how things work, and thanks to NSCC, Edwin wants to make it a career. A first-year NSCC student, Edwin is also president of the NSCC's Engineering Club and a participant in Bridges to the STARS, an intensive career exploration program for college students interested in mathematics, science or technology. Despite working 30-hours per week, Edwin's academic record is excellent—he recently scored the highest test average in a class of 21 students in Intermediate Algebra. While he is still considering what engineering field he's most interested, he is keeping his options open and hopes to transfer to UMASS Amherst to pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering science.

Edwin Soto is the recipient of the 2011 Eastman Gelatin Corporation Scholarship, established in 2010 for NSCC by the Peabody-based company for a student in NSCC's Pre-Engineering degree program or any engineering discipline.
