New Changes to the FAFSA for 2017/2018. There were two major changes to the FAFSA. The first change was the FAFSA is now available much earlier this year. Students can start filling out the FAFSA on October 1st. The second is the income reported on the FASFA is from an earlier tax year. Students will use their 2015 tax information for the 2017/2018.
