Service Learning Program

Summary

Service-Learning, a faculty-initiated program, is a learning and teaching method that connects meaningful community service experiences with academic learning, focusing on critical and reflective thinking, and civic responsibility.

  • more than 50 faculty participants
  • over 60 different Service-Learning courses offered
  • over 12,000 hours of service at more than 300 different community based organizations

The CTLA provides stipends and professional development for faculty who develop a service-learning component in one or more courses. There is also an opportunity for faculty to apply to become a Cummings Fellow to experience community service while providing service to a local community-based organization.
