For more than twenty years, the NSCC Writing Across the Curriculum Program has promoted the use of writing to improve student learning across the disciplines. The program has served as a professional development opportunity for individual faculty and as an instructional resource for the entire college community. There are several different components to the program.
Each semester, over thirty writing-supported courses are offered by diverse faculty who make writing an integral part of learning in their courses. Writing-supported courses use several writing assignments and often different kinds of writing to teach the course content more effectively. In these courses faculty provide writing instruction along with the assignments. Writing-Supported classes are smaller, usually limited to about twenty students, and are identified in the college Master Schedule.
