Faculty Externships

Description

An externship experience offers faculty members the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the field in which they teach by working in a business, industry, or organization. It may also provide faculty with the opportunity to explore new content areas for curricula development and/or student workforce readiness and career preparation.

The purpose of a faculty externship is to:

  • Obtain a realistic perspective of the current workplace/business environment, required skills and competencies, and market trends
  • Integrate current workplace practices/operations and workforce readiness skills (team approach, project management, problem solving, basic research skills, etc.) into the curriculum
  • Enhance content knowledge and technical skills
  • Link classroom teaching to real world applications.

Faculty externship experiences are available during the January Intersession or the Summer.

Eligibility
