Practical Nursing
Mission
The Practical Nursing Program provides the education necessary for the practice of practical nursing and the awarding of a certificate from the College upon completion of the 40 week program. Student learning occurs through a currriculum based on accepted nursing concepts with emphasis on the development of technical competencies, communication skills, and critical thinking facilitated by faculty guidance and selection of relevant learning experiences in classroom, seminar, laboratory, and clinical settings. The Program enourages students to pursue lifelong educational growth.
Programs of Study
A high school diploma, GED, or passing score on a
federally approved Ability To Benefit Test is required for admission
to all programs. Contact the Admissions Office

Mandatory Information Sessions for the Practical Nursing Program for the academic year 2009 - 2010 are scheduled for the following dates and times:
October 19, at 2:30 pm November 16, at 2:30 pm December 08, at 2:30 pm January 26 at 9:00 am February 24, at 1:00 pm March 31, at 3:30 pm April 26 at 12 noon
Each session will be held in Maude Hall, Room 118, on the Hathorne campus, Rt 62 in Danvers, MA. Please arrive on time for the 1 hour informational exchange. A graduate from the practical nursing program will be available at each session to answer your questions and give you his or her sage advise. We welcome the opportunity to help you make an informed decision regarding your future education.
Transfer Opportunities
A formal articulation agreement is in place between the Practical Nursing Program and the Nurse Education Program (AD) at NSCC. A graduate of the PN Program is eligible for advanced standing in the Nurse Education Program and is encouraged to seek admissin through this process. Each LPN is considered for admission on a case-by-case basis.
