North Shore Community College has an ongoing commitment to assess and improve student learning by understanding what and how students are learning. Assessment of student learning is used, therefore, to inform curriculum, pedagogy, and other factors that affect learning.
This year the College is in the process of redesigning the department and program self-study process as well as the assessment process. A redesign team comprised of faculty, professional staff, the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment (CTLA) staff, and Academic Affairs Leadership worked throughout the summer of 2009 to draft a redesign of these processes. In order to continue the work of the summer redesign team and garner College-wide input from faculty and staff, 2009-2010 will be considered a Transitional Year. Further redesign activities will continue through the Transitional Advisory Committee to the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment.
