Early Childhood Education (ECD)
Field Placement

What makes the Early Childhood Education Program Unique?
Students in the Early Childhood Education Program spend over 440 hours working directly with children from 2.9 to 5.9 years of age over the span of two semesters. Generally our students are in their placements 4 mornings a week, 4 hours a day for 14 weeks. This professionally supervised field work in educational preschool settings helps students build the confidence and skills needed to become a competent early childhood educator. It also allows students the opportunity to make connections between knowledge gained through coursework with hands-on experience. Students who are twenty-one years of age upon graduation can apply to the Department of Early Education and Care for lead teacher certification; those under twenty-one can apply for teacher certification. Students are placed in a variety of early childhood programs on the North Shore which include but are not limited to:

LEO Head Start, Catholic Charities-  Lynn

    Pathways Inc. -  Gloucester/Beverly/Salem

Parker River Community Preschool - Rowley

    Bright Horizons - Beverly

    Lil' Sprouts-  Essex

    Magical Beginnings-  Peabody

Ocean Breeze Nursery School, First Church Nursery School-  Swampscott

    Fox Hill school-  Danvers
