The Mental Health Program at North Shore Community College teaches students to be competent, effective mental health professionals in a variety of Human Service settings. The purpose of the program is to create an environment where students can acquire the ethics and skills necessary to become effective clinicians and advocates in the field of Human Services. Students will be encouraged to develop their own unique abilities and to work collaboratively with individuals, families, and agencies. Students will demonstrate clinically accepted cognitive, behavioral, and affective skills. This will be accomplished by utilizing case studies, clinical field placements, informational interviews, active learning strategies, life experiences, and community research projects.
