The Mission of the Animal Care Specialist Programs at North Shore Community College is to provide qualified students with the educational opportunities necessary to enable them to successfully seek employment and establish careers in a variety of animal care related settings including shelters, kennels and animal daycare facilities. Utilizing a curriculum that is flexible, the Program strives to meet the needs a of diverse student population, preparing them with the physical, intellectual and emotional skills to work effectively in a variety of animal care settings.

The Program faculty strives to provide an education that balances theory and practice in the understanding and care of animals. Learning is facilitated through a broad range of activities both clinical and didactic. The primary goal of these programs is to prepare a student as a competent pet care professional.
